Ahhh....Still Moving Forward

Well, last week started out a little rough, but I was able to get those miles in- which is important at this point.  Last weekend was another back to back long run weekend!  All that lemonade making last week took a toll, and Saturday started out tough.  I think all my mental fortitude was spent for the week, and turkey creek requires some amount of mental push.  The good news is that I was able to keep moving forward long enough- so the only option out out of the park was to keep moving :)  The motivation for the day was on Graylyn (not a favorite hill of mine)....I fortunately was running down the hill, and noticed a tall, thin guy running up the hill with a double jog stroller.  Yikes!  And then I realized that in seat 1, a toddler was enjoying his morning ride, while in seat 2- a small dog was head to the wind....it made me laugh, and I thought, well at least I am not pushing anybody else up these hills :)  ah, there is the glass half full I had been searching for all week.
Sunday's run was less eventful, and actually was not as bad as I had anticipated.  Both days were used for picnic experimentation.  On Saturday, I tried a peanut butter and jelly roll-up on the run.  (These pretzels are making me thirsty!)  That was tough to get down as one might imagine.  On Sunday, I opted for diced pears.  I think the fruit is going to work well for me, but have not yet found a more substantial option.  I will keep working on this over the next few weeks.  This whole eating on the run thing is throwing me off a little.
I am definitely feeling the extra need for sleep these last few weeks.  No more late nights for me.  We went to dinner to celebrate Liza's birthday last week, and I almost turned into a pumpkin.  I am definitely giving Liza a raincheck for a do-over in April :)  I even skipped my book for bookclub last month....the first one that I have missed (okay, except for Liza's "love" choice, but that was for a completely different reason :)!).   Making an effort to get the one for this month read- Water for Elephants.  Don't ruin the surprise if you have already read it.   And it will be my first book on my very own Kindle :)  yeah :)
I was so tired I even had to pass up a night with Jon Bon and Cari....I am sure she represented us well with her Rave and outfit from Merry Go Round!  (and I hope Katie didn't get all the songs mixed up!)
Looking forward to more of a down week this week- before ramping back up for the 2 following weeks (gulp!)...stay tuned!
High maintenance runner!  Getting ready for a long run these days is more like preparing a picnic!
