Dan Labrecque
Our neighborhood book club met Friday night (at my house). So I took Friday as a vacation day to clean and get ready. Does cleaning blinds and windows and vacuuming everything count as cross training? I heart a good book :) and we read a great book last month. I am looking forward to next month's pick as well! These days, it has to be good to keep me going, otherwise I fall right to sleep!
Steph finally made it back from Germany Friday night, so we met up for our long run Saturday morning. I was feeling less than motivated, so it is a good thing I had somebody to meet! We ran into several people out at Umstead, including Rich (who is training for the Frosty 50K). We ran with Rich for a little while and then headed back our direction. As we climbed to the top of Cemetery Hill (a nasty little hill at the park), we spotted Bill Burns- another 100 miler. We have run with Bill in the past, because he is always training for something and will run with you even if he doesn't know you :) Turns out he had heard a rumor that Steph and I had signed up for the Umstead 100 miler! He was also very helpful in providing some advice for the beginners!
Steph mentioned that she has been following my blog while away in Germany and then said, "I can't believe that my introverted sister is posting her feelings online! She is stepping out." We both laughed and then I said, well, not all my feelings :)
I got my next 4 week training schedule from Coach Ian and am excited to keep moving forward!
My Frequent Training Buddies- The Roller and the Robe Belt :)
Quote of the Week:
Ella: "Daddy, what are we going to do with that mommy?"
Kris: "I don't know, Ella, I guess we just have to love her anyway."
Ella: "She sure does like a clean house."

Your training buddies look lonely....
ReplyDeleteCoach Ian,
Do I have permission to use your possible disappointment (a great motivator I've come to find) to get other things done around here? Something like "Coach Ian would be very disappointed if you didn't fix dinner and take Ella to dance tonight."
I am pretty sure that Coach Ian would say that I was resting for my next big run or recovering properly :)
