Most of you reading this know me quite well, and know how I feel about excuses...I don't like them. I don't accept them- in fact, the Clinard house is an Excuse Free Zone. I only want to know the real reasons why or why not....no excuses....And yes, I just didn't feel like it sometimes counts as a real reason. For example, if I miss a run, I don't search for any alternate reasons, I just say, uh, well, I suppose I just wanted to join the Couch Potato Team today :)
So, today I have 2 no excuses:
1. My favorite cardiologist, Dr. Z, cleared me for the 100 miler :) He said to take care of myself and call him if I need him, but he felt confident that my problem right now was my craziness! (and he plans to retire before we have to truly discuss my discontinuation of running- he said he didn't want to be involved in that discussion :)!) So I wished him a Merry Christmas and told him I would see him next year...and that I would send a picture of me crossing the finish line (positive thoughts)!
2. Freezing cold weather (in December, no less)- NO EXCUSES! and Tracey gets the running buddy award this week, becasue she met me for this freezing cold Fartlek run. I had so many clothes on that I couldn't even hear my watch beeping and completely missed the first 2 one minute repeats. oops....I kept wondering why she was speeding up???? so I removed some clothing from the ear area, and we were back to rocking and rolling. We even had to navigate through some nasty ice patches- so my final thought on this is, please Old Man Winter, spare us...typically it doesn't get like this until January, and it is going to be a long winter if this keeps up. It was 22 degrees (not including that bone chilling, whipping wind)- and my morning mantra is only guaranteed to work at 32 degrees and above :) he, he!
Cold weather gear- Check :) The face mask only made it half a mile and then was discarded...too toasty for that still :)
You are all welcome to the EFZ anytime...we have a spare room.
